3 of the Best Food Hacks

I won’t lie: the term “food hacks” does sound a little worrisome to me.

But I promise, it’s not!

These food hacks are just little tips that I’ve picked up that make cooking for yourself a little easier.

This year is the first time I’ve ever been fully responsible for all my own food. No mother-made meal, no dining-hall lunchs and no pre-packed snacks.

Thankfully, my boyfriend is a cooking wiz and has been departing his knowledge onto me. But there’s so much more to feeding yourself than just cooking!

These foodhacks make lunch, dinner and snack time just a little easier.

1. whatthef*ckshouldimakefordinner.com

This website is one of my FAVOURITES. Upon loading the homepage, it gives you a suggestion with a little sass (warning: humour needed!). If you like what they suggest, you can click on it to instantly get a recipe. Or if you’re not about it, click “I don’t f*cking like that.” It’s really a great invention.

2. Snacks are friends… and food.

It’s actually better for you to eat five small meals a day than three big ones. And while admittedly, that’s a lot of time spent eating, snacks can be great for making it happen. Snacks are the best because they’re usually cheap and it’s so easy to choose a healthy one. My go-to’s are usually fruits or nuts.

3. Tupperware is your best friend. As are labels.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m terrible about not actually eating leftovers. I really do want to, but by the time I remember I have them… well… let’s just say they’re not happy.
Tupperware (and labels) make my life SO much easier. I not only actually have somewhere safe to put leftovers, but also remember what I have. Tupperware is another great invention.

Without these three mini-food hacks, I don’t know where I’d be.

I’m way too indecisive about food to live without whatthef*ckshouldimakefordinner.com.

I’m way too bad about setting real times for meals to live without snacks.

And I’m way too lazy to live without leftovers (not to mention leftovers save me a ton of money and let me not have to worry about portion sizes while cooking).

Honestly, eating is simply hard. These food hacks make it little easier.
